Del Sur Green Community

San Diego, California – Just 20 miles from downtown San Diego sits the green community of Del Sur, a brand new sustainable community that has the feel of a well-established and historic town. With its hand painted tiles, mature trees and streetlights that resemble old-fashioned gas lamps, this neighborhood is inspired by the past but planning for the future.
Del Sur secured some of the country's most qualified green builders to design and build homes in 5 unique neighborhoods. Design of the homes were based around 8 to 10 different regional styles that blend seamlessly with San Diego’s architectural characteristics. Styles range from Monterey colonial homes to rustic cottages to Mediterranean farmhouses and vary in size from affordable apartments to large, high end estate homes.
This sustainable community will be one of the largest of its kind in the state of California. From the very beginning, it has been required of builders to conserve and recycle as much as possible; many times waste from construction is recycled and used elsewhere in the community.
Just in 2008, the Del Sur development was recognized as one of “America’s Greenest” by The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), won five awards including Sustainable Community of the Year from the Regional Building Industry Association, 2007 Recycler of the Year by the City of San Diego Environmental Services Department and Gold Nugget Award of Merit for the 2007 best community site plan.
