Sonoma Mountain Village Green Community

Rohnert Park, California– Located just 40 miles north of San Francisco, Sonoma Mountain Village is considered one of the most sustainable communities in the world. As a mixed-use community, it combines New Urbanism, Smart Growth and Smart Code to recycle the former Agilent Technologies campus to bring back 3,000 jobs and build 1,900 new homes.
Sonoma Mountain Village prides itself in being a New Urbanism community. These communities provide jobs and housing all within a walk able distance. Sonoma Mountain Village was planned to accommodate both pedestrians and cars. Smart Growth and Smart Code are two other theories that this community was based around. These theories basically focus on the efficient use of land to avoid urban sprawl and embrace walking, biking, etc…
Over 1,900 homes are expected to be built in Sonoma Mountain Village over the next 12 years; the homes will be a combination of 1,000 single family homes and 900 apartments. Homes will vary from luxury homes to lofts to townhouses and range in size from 600 sq. ft. to 4,500 sq. ft. All homes are within a two minute walk from a neighborhood park and a few minute stroll to the daily farmers market, theater, restaurants and more.
This mixed-use green community is already home to 21 businesses including AT&T, Comcast and various Codding businesses.
