Mosier Creek Green Community

Mosier, Oregon – Located on a year-round creek and the grasslands of Northern Oregon is the green community of Mosier Creek. Mosier Creek offers its resident high performance housing with a small town lifestyle and a scenic view of the nearby gorge and river.
Mosier Creek fits Mosier, the small town of less than 500 perfectly. This green community consists of just 34 units; 22 townhomes and 12 flats. The townhomes offer approximately 1,500 sq. ft. of living space and 300 sq. ft. of decks; the flats are 770 sq. ft. of living space and 80 sq. feet of outside decks. Both units feature carpet and bamboo hardwood floors, stainless steel appliances, granite countertops in the kitchen and either a one or two-car carport plus a storage locker.
Mosier Creek prides itself on the high performance housing it provides its residents. The metered draw of energy in Mosier Creek was 69% less than the national standard and was achieved with using 38% less operating energy than a home built by the UBC and the National Energy Code Standard. Plus 50% of each unit’s power needs is generated through photovoltaic and solar thermal arrays.
Representatives at Mosier Creek claim the community benefits the homeowner by saving approximately $100/month on operation costs. And the units decrease the CO2 emissions by 150 tons per home in a 30-year period and the whole community of Mosier Creek decreases emissions of CO2 by 4,300 tons for the same time span.
Green Credentials:
Mosier Creek homes are all certified LEED-H silver with the United States Green Building Council and are also part of a national pilot program with LEED for homes. All HVAC, lighting and appliances are ENERGY STAR rated.
