EcoVillage Green Homes, Community

Loudoun County, Virginia – EcoVillage of Loudoun County is a green community in Northern Virginia. The community is formed by a careful combination of both co-housing and the concept of an ecovillage. Co-housing brings the community together and forms a relationship among the residents while avoiding suburban sprawl. The goal of an ecovillage is to live in harmony with nature and the environment.
One section of EcoVillage incorporates co-housing, a strategy of clustering homes to reduce land use for buildings and increase the amount of open space. EcoVillage’s clustered homes are on privately owned lots which increase privacy but keep the connected feeling of co-housing. The co-housing section will also feature a common house which is considered the heart of the community. The common house is home to guest rooms, laundry facility, large dining room, playroom for kids and more.
Housing in EcoVillage is based on six contemporary, classic home styles. One to three bedroom houses are available in a variety of sizes from approximately 1,400 sq. ft. to a little over 2,800 sq. ft. The design of the houses eliminates useless, wasted space but will still include features such as porches and vaulted ceilings.
EcoVillage continuously uses the Environmental Protection Agency’s five categories for sustainable development as a guideline for their green community. Categories include low-impact development, protecting vital resources, transportation and infrastructure, quality of life and economics and a new design for living. Take a look at EcoVillage.
