Wow, it was just announced that Mount Dora, Florida will be home to a green community of about 400 Green homes. A developer in North Carolina supposedly is going to begin plans on the development. Some of its features will be apartments, mansions, townhouses and single-family homes in an eco friendly environment.
Other green details are:
-
Irrigated Zoysia or something similar for the development’s lawns, yards and greenbelts and non irrigated Bahia grass or an alternative natural grass for secondary areas.
-
Rain and soil moisture sensors will be used for homes and irrigated open spaces.
-
Drought-resistant trees will be planted throughout the development.
-
Parks and recreational trails connecting to residential green communities.
Let’s just say, you could begin with a blank slate, have the home of your dreams in a community that’s as concerned about the environment and the future of your children as you are. Imagine a community with green space, and walking paths through forests and meadows, a place for picnics, and possibly a place to ride horses along tree-canopied trails.
You may want to live in a place where your quality of life would be extraordinarily high as well as feeling a sense of community. Where the principles of sustainability touch everything from your homes construction to the organic produce your family enjoys grown by one of your neighbors.
If this sounds like your perfect place to live, we want to help you find a green community to fulfill that dream.

In short, here is how Wikipedia defines this term; “Sustainable communities are communities planned, built, or modified to promote sustainable living. They tend to focus on environmental sustainability (including development and agriculture) and economic sustainability. Sustainable communities can focus on sustainable urban infrastructure and/or sustainable municipal infrastructure.”
There are several websites that define, and educate people on this term, as well as provide locations of these types of communities, I have listed them here:
www.sustainable.org/information/aboutsuscom.html
www.ecobusinesslinks.com/sustainable_communities.htm

I also would like for you to visit our website to view sustainable green communities in the United States, we are trying to build a database of these types of developments so as to locate them quickly.
Our response to the site has honestly been overwhelming, I do not think we expected this much traffic, or notoriety, but we will take it! I am happy to announce new green communities that are live on our website. We now have three communities listed in Arizona, and one in Georgia.
I would like to thank especially, Brian Sharpe from Tierra Antigua Realty, Arizona for informing me about these communities, it was much appreciated. Feel free to contact him if you are interested in Eco friendly homes there! Here is his contact telephone number: 520-275-2030
Also, we are very privileged to have as a listing, Serenbe Green Community. This community is absolutely amazing! It is scattered through thousands of acres in Georgia, with several self sustaining features such as Earth Craft Houses, organic wastewater treatment, organic farming (This is my favorite) and storm water management. There are a plethora number of features at Serenbe, I highly suggest you visit their website, you will be amazed at what they are doing in Palmetto, Georgia.
This will be short and sweet, however we are looking forward to keeping people updated on the latest Green community news on the earth.
